The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs (now IEDA) and Iowa Great Places Citizen Advisory Board have designated Grimes as an Iowa Great Place. Through this designation, the State of Iowa recognizes communities dedicated to improving their quality of life and quality of place. Grimes has demonstrated their commitment to stakeholder engagement and long-term planning while cultivating and lifting up authentic assets in neighborhoods, districts, communities, and regions.

“From the City’s investment in GrimesPlex, the largest multi-sport turf complex in the Midwest, to our growing and thriving business community – Grimes is an exciting place to be,” said Development Services Director Alex Pfaltzgraff. “We are honored to have the Iowa Great Places designation.”

With this designation, the City of Grimes will also have access to new grants to help fund exciting projects in the community.
